Salvation and Exaltation
I think most religions would consider salvation and exaltation the same thing, but in mormon doctrine, there is a distinct difference. Salvation comes by applying the power of the atonement of our Savior Jesus Christ in our lives and by keeping His commandments. Many people will be blessed with salvation, but far fewer will obtain exaltation. Exaltation will be reserved for those individuals who have made the proper covenants of an eternal marriage. Only these people, according to mormon doctrine, will be able to continue to have increase in the after life, because marriage is an eternal principle. Individuals who are saved but not exalted will be angels in the next life.
