The Clubfoot and its Treatment
When talking about something that occurs in about one in a thousand births where anatomically the foot is pointing down and inwards is the Clubfoot. This condition is always checked just after the birth. Treatment usually needs to be started immediately or soon after the birth as the foot is still malleable and moldable. Usually the foot is manipulated and stretched and then put in plaster and after a week the plaster is removed then manipulation and stretching and plaster are repeated. This is continued until the foot is corrected and then surgery is the only option if the foot is really too rigid.
